EMDR Expansions: Fidelity, Spirituality, and Adaptive Meaning
Go deeper without leaving the EMDR model.
You already know the EMDR protocol.
You understand the eight phases. You use the Adaptive Information Processing model. You care about fidelity.
But sometimes something deeper emerges during reprocessing.
A client begins questioning who they are. A belief about self begins to shift. Themes of identity, values, faith, culture, or meaning begin to surface.
How do you stay with those moments without leading the client, imposing a framework, or moving outside the EMDR model?
EMDR Expansions: Fidelity, Spirituality, and Adaptive Meaning: is an advanced, experiential training designed to help EMDR-trained clinicians deepen their clinical thinking while remaining firmly grounded in the standard eight-phase protocol and AIP model.

Structure and Depth Can Exist Together
You do not have to choose between following the EMDR protocol and making room for the deeper themes that naturally emerge in therapy.
Throughout this two-day experience, you will strengthen fidelity across all eight phases while refining how you conceptualize cases, prepare clients, select targets, recognize adaptive information, and respond when questions of identity, values, spirituality, or meaning emerge organically.
There is no new model being introduced.
There is no departure from the eight-phase protocol.
And there is no spiritual framework being imposed on the client.
Within this training, spirituality refers to the client's own beliefs, values, culture, identity, or sources of meaning.
Is This Training for You?
This training is designed for EMDR-trained clinicians who:
Want to strengthen fidelity to the standard EMDR protocol
Want greater clarity in case conceptualization and target selection
Want stronger Phase 1 History Taking and Phase 2 Preparation skills
Want to identify negative cognitions more directly from client language
Want to better recognize adaptive information as it emerges during reprocessing
Work with clients who bring identity, values, spirituality, culture, or faith into therapy
Want to hold deeper clinical themes without leading the client or moving outside the AIP model
Eligibility for the 12 EMDRIA Credits is restricted to clinicians who have completed an EMDRIA-Approved Basic EMDR Training.
Learning Objectives
-
Apply the standard eight-phase EMDR protocol with increased clinical precision while maintaining fidelity to the Adaptive Information Processing model.
-
Differentiate the clinical functions of Phase 1 and Phase 2 to strengthen history taking, case conceptualization, preparation, and target selection.
-
Identify negative cognitions from client language and organize treatment targets across past experiences, present triggers, and future adaptive responses.
-
Recognize adaptive information as it emerges during reprocessing and support integration without leading or directing the client.
-
Describe ways to respond when client-defined spirituality, identity, values, culture, or meaning emerge organically while remaining grounded in the EMDR model.
-
Use grounding, regulation, sensory awareness, and connection with the natural environment to support preparation, resourcing, presence, and integration within EMDR therapy.

Meet Your Trainers
Jackie Flynn, EdS, LMHC-S, RPT-S™, RST-C/T
EMDRIA Approved Consultant and Advanced Trainer
Jackie brings an experiential and relational approach to EMDR training while maintaining a strong focus on fidelity to the model.
Her work explores how clinicians can deepen their clinical presence, case conceptualization, and use of the eight-phase protocol while creating space for the client's own adaptive process to unfold.
Suna Clinchard, LMFT, PMH-C
EMDRIA Approved Consultant and Advanced Trainer
Suna joins Jackie in guiding this advanced two-day experience, bringing her clinical perspective to the exploration of EMDR fidelity, meaning, spirituality, and adaptive healing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a Basic EMDR Training?
No. EMDR Expansions is an advanced training for clinicians who have already completed an EMDRIA-Approved Basic EMDR Training.
How many EMDRIA Credits are available?
The program is approved for 12 EMDRIA Credits under program approval number #19012-42.
Is spirituality being integrated as a new EMDR model?
No.
The training explicitly remains grounded in the standard eight-phase EMDR protocol and AIP model.
Spirituality refers to client-defined beliefs, values, culture, identity, or sources of meaning, rather than a particular religious or spiritual framework.
Is the training in person?
Yes. This is a two-day, in-person training in Satellite Beach, Florida.
Will we spend time outside?
The venue provides beach access and an oceanfront deck, and the training includes structured opportunities to engage with the natural environment through sensory awareness for grounding, regulation, preparation, resourcing, and integration.
Ready to Expand Your EMDR Practice?
You do not have to move outside the EMDR model to create room for depth.
Strengthen your clinical thinking, deepen your work across the eight phases, and build greater confidence supporting identity, values, spirituality, and adaptive meaning when they naturally emerge.
