Kathleen (KatySue) Tillman, PhD, LP, RPT, is a Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychologist and Registered Play Therapist with over two decades of experience supporting children, adolescents, and families. She is also a professor, researcher, professional presenter, and author. Dr. Tillman completed her pre-doctoral internship in child-clinical and pediatric psychology at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children through the Medical College of Virginia and earned her PhD in Counseling Psychology with a Child Development concentration from the University of North Dakota. She also holds master’s degrees in both Community Counseling and School Counseling.

A pioneer in the field of tele-play therapy, Dr. Tillman has been offering play therapy via telehealth since 2013. At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, she developed and delivered the first foundational trainings in tele-play therapy, reaching over 5,000 therapists worldwide. Her approach is grounded in developmentally and theoretically sound, evidence-based practices. Dr. Tillman continues to innovate through consultation groups, individual mentorship, and a growing body of work around physical tele-play therapy.
