Let Me Introduce You to Dora
Dora Henderson, LMHC, RPT-S™, CST, EMDR Consultant, Certified Synergetic Play Therapist™, and TraumaPlay™ Supervisor, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who brings both deep clinical expertise and lived experience to her work with children, families, and fellow therapists. She is a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor™, Certified Sand Tray Therapist, EMDR Consultant, and an experienced guide in integrative trauma and neurodevelopmental care.
As a mother of three children with special needs—including autism, ADHD, and dyslexia—and a proud grandmother of three, Dora understands firsthand the joys and complexities of parenting neurodivergent children. Her personal journey fuels her commitment to inclusion, advocacy, and helping families discover resilience and hope.
In private practice since 2017, Dora supports children with complex emotional needs, trauma histories, and neurodevelopmental differences. Her approach draws from neuroscience, play therapy, EMDR, somatic work, expressive arts, and sandtray therapy to offer safe, creative spaces for healing. Dora has also served as a District Mental Health Counselor in over 21 schools, supporting students, families, and educators.
Dora is co-founder of the Neuroscience of Therapy Conference, where clinical depth meets playful connection. Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, she brings a multicultural lens and a heart for storytelling, puppetry, and global connection. Dora lives her values of love and joyful service, celebrating over 38 years of marriage and a lifelong commitment to healing work.
