Karen Wallace, M.Ed, BCATR, is an expressive art psychotherapist, writer and teacher. She works to combine the mythic poetic world of tarot, poetry, and art with the world of psychology, trauma theory, and embodiment. She has authored articles, conference presentations, in-service workshops, and books. Karen is the author of There Is No Need to Talk About This: Poetic Inquiry from the Art Therapy Studio and co-author with her spouse Patrick Lewis of Trauma Informed Teaching through Play Art and Narrative (PAN).
Karen offers trauma informed educational programs for schools and institutions to help teachers and other professions help reduce the trauma of the children they work alongside. She has a private practice and works with adults, children, and teens using expressive therapy, IFS, and Somatic therapy. Karen has 25+ years working with complex trauma, addictions, loss, grief, and abuse through clinical experience in community mental health, schools, group homes, social services, and in private practice.
Karen has taught at University of Regina in Educational Counselling Psychology, Early Childhood Education, and Social Work. She has also taught art therapy at WHEAT The Winnipeg Holistic Expressive Arts Therapy Institute in Winnipeg and at several other art therapy schools throughout Canada. She supervises therapists and counsellors across Canada including being the clinical supervisor for counsellors and youth workers in Shibogama First Nations in Northwestern Ontario. Throughout her career she has facilitated many different kinds of creativity and art therapy groups. She is currently completing her third book, A Fools Journey: A Spiritual Journey of Becoming.

New Online Group for adults: Exploring Self through Archetypes (January 14th ,2023) 10:00 am--12:00 pm (PST)
January 12th, 2023 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm (PST)

Online group to explore archetypes through writing, myths, Internal Family Systems, art making and reading the cards. You will have an opportunity to take a deep dive into the archetypes through writing your archetypal story, making art, doing Internal Family Systems sessions, and exploring through somatic exercises. You may choose to sample all the ways offered, or pick and choose what works for you. Perhaps you want to write, do collage or learn more about reading your tarot deck. Or you may want to show up and just listen and learn about each archetype that we are studying.
