Let Me Introduce You to Dr. Erica
Dr. Erica Tatum-Sheade, DSW, LCSW, RPT-S, CAdPT, CDWF, is the co-founder and Clinical Director of the Arizona Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy Training (AzIAPT) and co-owner of Integrated Mental Health Associates in North Scottsdale, Arizona. She is an award-winning clinician, educator, and speaker with a strong clinical foundation in Adlerian therapy and specialized expertise in play therapy, child and adolescent trauma, and clinical supervision. Dr. Erica was named the 2022 NASW Arizona Social Worker of the Year and received the 2026 Diversity in Play Therapy Award from the Arizona Association for Play Therapy.
With years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and families, Dr. Erica is passionate about empowering young people through creative, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approaches. She developed the G.E.M.S.® and G.E.N.T.S. youth empowerment programs and is the author of several books, including The ABCs of Empowerment, Fernando Has Feelings, and Layla Goes to Therapy. Through her clinical work, writing, training programs, and community outreach, Dr. Erica continues to inspire healing, resilience, and growth in both professionals and families.
