Let Me Introduce You to Clara

Clara Magallanes, M.Ed., LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor, author, presenter, speaker, and bilingual clinician with more than 25 years of experience supporting healing, learning, and emotional well-being across cultures and systems of care. Her multidisciplinary background includes work as a medical doctor in Mexico, a special education teacher, assistant principal, and school-based counselor, all of which deeply inform her compassionate and culturally responsive approach to therapy and education.

Clara provides trauma-informed therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families in both English and Spanish. She is trained in EMDR, Brainspotting (Phases 1 & 2), AutPlay Therapy, play therapy, and sandtray therapy. She integrates expressive, play-based, somatic, and parts-work-informed approaches to support emotional healing and nervous system regulation. Clara also incorporates expressive arts and gentle sound-based practices to enhance relaxation, creativity, and emotional connection.

As a Certified Grief Educator through David Kessler’s program and a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader (CLYL), Clara brings warmth, creativity, and relational care into her work with individuals, groups, and families navigating trauma, grief, emotional dysregulation, life transitions, and complex emotional experiences.

Clara is especially passionate about storytelling, bibliotherapy, expressive arts, and relational healing practices as pathways for meaning-making, resilience, and transformation. As the author of Oona Luna Petunia Finds Her Braveand By the Things We Love, she uses story and imagination to help children and adults reconnect with their strengths, inner wisdom, and capacity for healing.

Her work centers on creating culturally responsive, relational spaces where clients can safely explore their inner world through play, creativity, and authentic connection.
